Masai Mara Safari

30-07-2021

We left Nairobi on Friday, 30th July and headed southwest to the Masai Mara, arguably one of the finest game reserves in Africa. Had a stop over at View Point where we had our breakfast. Then we crossed the Great Rift Valley, Africa's immense and spectacular great divide.

We had another stop over for lunch at Curio Barcelona (Narok) and later proceed for the afternoon game drive at the Masai Mara Game Reserve.Checking into Riverside Camp after sunset. Riverside Camp is set in what is considered Kenya's prime wildlife area.

The second day, we explored more of the park with a full-day game drive and witnessed the wonderful procession of wildlife that inhabits the area. We spent the night in Loita Hills (Tepesua Campsite), home of the traditional Maasai people known for their vibrant red dress and elaborate jewelry. This is one of the key places where the Maasai people still practice their traditional way of life, with little influence from the western world. We were welcomed  by Maasai Warriors by way of traditional song and dance. We Met our Maasai hosts and enjoy a fascinating talk, full of insights into this remarkable and ancient culture.

Third day, took a walk to the community village and learnt about village life and shown around a traditional Maasai home and their cattle enclosures. We then said goodbye to the open expanses of the African bush and returned to the bustling metropolis of Nairobi.
